IMPLEMENTASI METODE TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE DALAM MEMPERKAYA KOSA KATA SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR
Abstract
“The research is entitled ”Implementasi Metode Total Physical Response Dalam Memperkaya Kosakata Siswa Dasar”. This research is conducted in order to improve students’ vocabularies using the total physical response (TPR) method at the fortth grade of SD Negeri 36 Kleak Manado. The aims of this research were to find out whether there was an improvement of students’ vocabularies before and after being taught using the TPR method. In conducting this research, the researcher used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the method of research. This research consisted of two cycles that consisted of four steps, they are: Planning, Action, Observation, and Reflection. To collect the data, the researcher did three steps, such as: Pre-test, Treatment, and Post-test. To analyze the data, the researcher used qualitative research design. The quantitative data were obtained from the fifth grade students’ scores of the pretest and post-test. The results showed that the total physical response can improve the students vocabularies at the fourth grade of SD Negeri 36 Kleak Manado. The improvement could be seen from pretest and post-test scores in the two cycles. In the pre-test, the main score is 43. In the post-test, the main score is 109. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that TPR is effective for teaching vocabularies.
Penelitian ini berjudul ”Implementasi Metode Total Physical Response Dalam Memperkaya Kosakata Siswa Dasar”. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam rangka meningkatkan kosa kata siswa dengan menggunakan metode Total Physical Response (TPR) pada kelas IV SD Negeri 36 Kleak Manado. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat peningkatan kosakata siswa sebelum dan sesudah diajar menggunakan metode TPR. Dalam melakukan penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) sebagai metode penelitian. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus yang terdiri dari empat langkah, yaitu: Perencanaan, Tindakan, Observasi, dan Refleksi. Untuk mengumpulkan data, peneliti melakukan tiga langkah, seperti: Pre-test, Treatment, dan Post-test. Untuk menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan desain penelitian kualitatif. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari nilai pretest dan posttest siswa kelas V. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa respon fisik total dapat meningkatkan kosakata siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 36 Kleak Manado. Peningkatan tersebut terlihat dari nilai pretest dan postes pada dua siklus. Pada pre-test, skor utama adalah 43. Pada post-test, skor utama adalah 109. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa TPR efektif untuk pengajaran kosakata.
