Toponimi dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Sangihe di Pulau Bunaken dan Manado Tua (Suatu Analisis Kontrastif)
“The title of this research is “Toponimi dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Sangihe di Pulau Bunaken dan Manado Tua (Suatu Analisis Kontrastif)”. This research is an attempt to identify, classify, and analyze toponym in English and Sangihe Language. The English data were collected from books, while Sangihe Language were collected from informants in Bunaken and Manado Tua islands. This research uses descriptive method as the research method, and uses theory from Tent and Slatyer (2009) to identify and classify the data, subsequently uses theory from Keshavarz (2012) to contrast the similarity and differences of both languages. The result of this research shows that the similarity between English and Sangihe Language lies in the types of toponyms namely descriptive toponyms, associative toponyms, incident toponyms, evaluative toponyms, shift toponyms, indigenous toponyms, eponymous toponyms, linguistic innovation toponyms, error toponyms. There are three differences between these two languages namely: eponymous toponyms are commonly used in English, while in Sangihe language more likely to used incident toponyms, and the error toponyms is not found in English, evaluative toponyms, shift toponyms, linguistic innovation toponyms are not found in Sangihe language.
