The Inauguration of The English Student Association (ESA)
The English Students Association (ESA) is an organization under the English Literature Department. Its mission includes serving as a platform for student aspirations, organizing both academic and non-academic activities, and more. After conducting open recruitment in March, followed by interviews in April, and a series of selection processes to find new members, the inauguration of new members was finally held in September.
The inauguration took place on September 13, 2024, attended by key figures such as Ma’am Stephani J. Sigarlaki, S.S., M.Hum, the Head of the English Literature Department, Ma’am Elvie Nintje Piri S.pd.,M.Hum, the department’s secretary, and Sir Muh. Hasan Basri S.Pd.,M.Hum, the advisor for the English Students Association. Also present were representatives from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences Executive Board (BEM FIB) and the Student Representative Council (DPM FIB).
The event began at 2:00 PM, with Jein Lumihi as the Master of Ceremonies. Opening remarks were given by Ma’am Elvie, Sir Hassan, and Ma’am Stephani. In her speech, Ma’am Stephani emphasized the importance of ESA’s role in supporting both academic and non-academic development for students. She also expressed her hope that the newly appointed members would advance the organization and serve as effective facilitators for channeling student aspirations.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Ma’am Stephani, who, as Head of the English Literature Department, officially inducted the new members by reading the Decree and leading the oath-taking. She then shared a few words of encouragement, urging the new ESA leadership to work diligently and with enthusiasm to contribute to the department’s growth.
