59th Anniversary of Faculty of Cultural Sciences: Language, Literature, and History as The Window of Culture

 

Manado, September 13, 2024 – The Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Sam Ratulangi University celebrated its 59th anniversary with a scientific seminar themed “Language, Literature, and History as The Window of Culture.” Organized by the English Literature Study Program, the event took place in the 3rd-floor meeting room and attracted faculty members, students, and researchers from various disciplines.

The seminar featured several keynote speakers, including prominent academics discussing the interconnections between language, literature, and history in understanding culture. In her opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Ibu Maya P. Warouw, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary studies in grasping the complex meanings of culture.

Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers during discussion sessions, fostering constructive dialogue on the roles of language and literature in preserving history and cultural identity. The seminar aimed to reinforce the Faculty’s position as a cultural studies center in North Sulawesi.

This event is also expected to motivate students to actively contribute to research and the development of knowledge in the field of culture, creating a dynamic and innovative academic environment.
