Persepsi Pelajar Bahasa Inggris Terhadap Penerapan Metode Community Language Learning
Abstract
“This research was conducted in order to find out students’ perceptions regarding the implementation of community language learning method in the eighth grade of SMP Advent 02 Sario. The aims of this research are to describe the implementation of community language learning and to present and analyze students’ perceptions after the implementation. This research used action research to implement the method of teaching and used semi-structured interview to collect the data. In analyzing the data, the researcher used qualitative data analysis. The implementation of community language learning activities was carried out by students and researcher without significant problems. The implemented activities in particular are transcription, reflective listening, small group tasks, and reflection on experience. The research findings showed that the perceptions of the students regarding the implementation of community language learning method are optimistic. The researcher concluded this based on the students’ recognizability, interest, personal reflection of the method and also from the students’ thoughts regarding the method’s advantages and disadvantages, and comparability with other methods. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the implementation went well and students of SMP Advent 02 Sario have optimistic perceptions towards community language learning method.

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui persepsi pelajar tentang penerapan metode community language learning di kelas VIII SMP Advent 02 Sario. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi community language learning dan untuk menyajikan dan menganalisis persepsi pelajar setelah implementasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan action research untuk mengimplementasikan metode pengajaran dan menggunakan wawancara semi terstruktur untuk mengumpulkan data. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan analisis data kualitatif. Pelaksanaan aktivitas metode community language learning dilakukan oleh pelajar dan peneliti tanpa kendala yang berarti. Aktivitas yang dilaksanakan khususnya adalah transcription, reflective listening, small group tasks, dan reflection on experience. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi pelajar terhadap penerapan metode community language learning adalah optimis. Peneliti menyimpulkan hal ini berdasarkan pengetahuan, minat, refleksi pribadi pelajar terhadap metode dan juga dari pemikiran pelajar tentang kelebihan dan kekurangan metode, dan perbandingan dengan metode lain. Berdasarkan hasil temuan dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelaksanaan berjalan dengan baik dan pelajar SMP Advent 02 Sario memiliki persepsi optimis terhadap metode community language learning.
