ABSTRACT
The title of this research is is “An Analysis of Personality Development shown by Bilbo in the The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) Produced by Wingnut Films”. This research aims to analyze Personality Development shown by Bilbo in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey film. The purpose of this research are to identify and classify all aspects of personality development shown by Bilbo in the film. Descriptive Qualitative method approach was used by the researcher in this research. There are two theories that are used in this research is. The first one is the theory about Personality Development by Hurlock (1974). The second one is the theory about Character and Characterization by Boggs and Petrie (2006). Hurlock (1974) classify the types of personality development aspects into eight parts. While on the other hand, Boggs and Petrie (2006) classify the types of character into three parts in pair and eight parts in terms of characterization. The researcher found several aspects of personality development within Bilbo. The researcher also classified the data found according to the theoretical framework.
