ABSTRACT
This research is entitled Improving Students’ Writing Skills in Simple Past Tense Through Writing Personal Experiences in SMP Advent 2 Sario, Manado. The aim of this research is to improve students’ writing skills, especially simple past tense through the task of writing personal experiences, and to find out whether the task is successfull in solving the problem faced by the students in simple past tense. The theories used in this research include the theory about writing skills, past tense and narrative text. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research, and the approach used for the teaching is Task Based Learning. The result of this research shows that the task Writing Personal Experiences can improve students’ writing skill in simple past tense, that can be seen in the improvement of the students’ scores of their writing tests about simple past tense.
