ABSTRACT

The titile of this research is “An Analysis of Gender Ideology in The film “Mulan” (2020) Produced by Walt Disney Pictures. This research is aimed to analyze the gender ideology in the film “Mulan”. The purposes of this research are to identify and categorize all of gender ideology that reveal in the film “Mulan” and to analyze the gender ideology as seen in the personality of character Mulan. The writer used qualitative method in this research. The theories that used in this research are from Hochschild’s book entitled “The second Shift” (2012) and from myers and briggs book entitled “Understanding Personality Type” (1980). The writer classified and analyzed the data according to the theoretical basis listed in the theoretical framework section. As the results, the writer found two types of gender ideology in the film Mulan, there are traditional and egaliter ideologies. The writes also revealed the personality of the main character Mulan and how the gender ideology reflected through the character Mulan. The egaliter ideology reflected through the main character. Mulan has an introvert personality, strong intuition with critical thought and always consider every decisions.
